Sentence #4 - REVEALED
How did you do?
I mean I should have expected it
Maybe this one was too easy. :)
These are some features that might have tripped you up.
The connections in the phrase I mean I, which makes it sound like one word ahMEANeye. This phrase is also on the list of commonly misheard phrases.
The contracted form of should have, which sounds like shuduv. Even some native speakers write it as should of because of the way it sounds.
The -ed pronunciation of expected, which adds the extra syllable id. (Expect ends in a t sound, so we add an extra syllable for the ed.)
The connection between expected it. The combination of the extra -ed syllable and the connection with the pronoun it can be hard to hear: expectidit

It was easier, but I always find the breakdown so useful!
And I didn't know some people wrote 'should of'. Very interesting.
